Older dogs and cats often suffer from heart failure. The hawthorn extract and L-carnitine in Canina® HEART VITAL effectively stabilize and strengthen heart function. Hawthorn (Crataegus) has long been used successfully in human medicine as an accompanying measure for chronic cardiac insufficiency.

The flavonoids and procyanidins contained in hawthorn support the heart muscle.

L-carnitine:
Improves the energy supply to the heart and skeletal muscles, increases cardiac muscle strength. Vitality, motivation and well-being of your dog are promoted.

Studies with performance dogs have shown a significant improvement in performance parameters when L-carnitine is added, especially in newborns whose body synthesis is still limited, but also in animals that are subject to increased demands. As early as 1988, dogs with heart problems were examined. Of 20 animals, 7 showed a reduced L-carnitine content in the heart muscle tissue. These dogs were successfully treated with oral L-carnitine supplementation. After discontinuation of the supplementation, the heart muscle problems recurred.

Effects of an adequate supply of L-carnitine:

• promotes the healthy development of puppies
• reduces the deposition (accumulation) of fats in the tissues

Note: Feed analyses of various commercial complete dog foods showed remarkably low L-carnitine contents compared to pure meat feed. The carnitine content of these complete foods was more than 10 times lower than that of pure meat. In fact, L-carnitine is less well absorbed by the dog's kidneys than in non-carnivorous animals. A higher excretion of vital L-carnitine in pets can therefore lead to a serious deficiency compared to animals living in the wild. For this reason, Canina® HEART-VITAL is strongly recommended, no matter what you feed your pet. It is recommended to seek the advice of our veterinarian before feeding or extending the feeding period.

Nutritional additives per 1,000ml: 30,000mg L-carnitine

Feeding recommendation per animal per day:
Dogs: ½ teaspoon per 10kg body weight (max. 3 teaspoons)
Cats: ½ teaspoon
(1 teaspoon = approx. 3ml)

Canina® HEART-VITAL is administered as a cure over 6 months with the food.
